Creative for a Cause by Nicole: STICHTING HESTER - CASA AMIGA

About STICHTING HESTER

Hester van Nierop was nearly 28 and had just graduated as an architect when, in September 1998, she was found raped and murdered in her hotel room in the Mexican border town of Ciudad Juárez. The fate suffered by Hester in Ciudad Juárez was not an exceptional one for the women in this town. Juárez was and still is infamous for the excessive violence against women, that takes place unpunished in most cases and against which the Mexican government is reacting inadequately. Impunity reigns in Ciudad Juárez.

At the end of 2004, following the murder of her daughter, Arsène van Nierop decided to found stichting Hester to fight this injustice and give a voice to the women of Ciudad Juárez.
Stichting Hester wants to help prevent violence against women in Ciudad Juárez by financially supporting
Casa Amiga.

About CASA AMIGA

Casa Amiga was established in 1998 in Ciudad Juárez, Mexico, by Esther Chávez to offer help to the many victims of violence against women. The centre was officially opened in February 1999 and since then, it is trying to help the women and children of Ciudad Juárez and making them more defensible by not only offering shelter to victims, but also psychological, legal, and social support and extensive education to create awareness of violence and its effects.
In the Netherlands and Europe, Stichting Hester is trying to create as much awareness as possible to the situation in Ciudad Juárez.

Buy my "Ni Una Mas!" Earrings and help support STICHTING HESTER/CASA AMIGA.

Handmade earrings with a pink swarovski crystal cross and genuine black agate beads...
For the earrings' colour scheme, I took inspiration from the pink crosses which were placed throughout Ciudad Juarez by the Mothers of Juarez and Chihuahua who are determined to keep the memory of their daughters alive through their struggle.
The pink cross has become a poignant symbol of the struggle to prevent violence against women.

Price 15 €
I will donate 7,50 € of the sales of these earrings to STICHTING HESTER

Creative for a Cause - Stop violence against women

Not everybody is as fortunate as I am...
Not everybody lives in a country that is safe...
Not everybody has frivolous things like beads & jewellery in their life...

Instead there are people who are constantly looking over their shoulder in fear, who are living in countries, torn by war, who do not know whether the next time they step outside their house might be the last time.

Thankfully there are organisations out there who are trying to help.
To support these charities in their cause, I've decided to use my "creative" streak and I'm proud to present my "Creative for a Cause"-collection : a collection of jewellery and accessories for which I will donate part of the proceedings to a charity.

I will be trying to add new charities regularly so please make sure to check my website or my blog to see which charity I have added!

Join me in my effort to make a difference!

How cute are these?

I've been kind of obsessed with cats lately...
just have a look at my latest creations, and you'll see what I mean...

Is there a cuter kitten than Hello Kitty? I think not :o))
These lovely earrings are the first items in my "Hello Kitty" Kiddies Collection: cute "Hello Kitty" jewellery for cute girls... but who am I to stop any cute grown-up to buy these and wear them themselves?

And then of course, we have these little beauties...

Meet Maneki Neko... according to Wikipedia, this kitten will bring good luck to its owner... so how can you not love Maneki Neko. I'm planning on ordering some other lovely Maneki Neko beads and adding more jewellery pieces to my Maneki Neko collection soon...

Bijoux Nicole... Who She? What do? And Why?

Hello and welcome to my Blog!

I'm an office administrator for a company that manufactures hydrogen generators by day and an aspiring bead jewellery maker by night. Seeing my day job isn't all that glamourous, I was looking for a way to add some glitter to my life, so when my friend gave me a handmade bead necklace and introduced me to beaded jewellery, I felt a bit like Alice in Wonderland... what's more sparkly than Swarovski crystal? All those colours, all those shapes... the possibilities are endless... so I started making jewellery myself as a hobby. This was about 4 years ago... Eventually, I gathered such a large collection of handmade jewellery that my jewellery box was ready to explode, so I decided to sell some things... Ingenious idea as I can use the money to buy new beads and make new things!

So I invite you to have a look at my website, make sure you visit my shop and also do a little bit of shopping (wink, wink) and oh, don't forget to check back for new posts in my blog!

I love... browsing in an Accessorize shop, apple crumble, B never too busy to be beautiful shop in Carnaby St. London, beading, beads, belgian chips, belly dancing, Ben&Jerry's chunky monkey ice cream, the colour blue, books, Broom Hilda, butterflies, Canada, cats, cute & kawaii, dogs, chocolate, chocolate mousse, Dilbert, Garfield, glitter, Ireland, jewellery, Lush bath bombs, mosaics, Pilgrim, Pride & Prejudice, poems, semi-precious stones, sparkles, Spongebob Squarepants, Swarovski, Tim Horton's coffee, Twinings Irish breakfast tea, UK
